"There's yet another reason to protect sloths, according to a new study published this month on three-toed sloths in Panama. Saving sloths could save people too, thanks to a veritable ecosystem of fungi living in their coats. The research, published in the scientific journal PLoS One, says that sloth hairs contain compounds that can be used against bacteria, breast cancer cells and the parasites that cause malaria and Chagas' disease," says Dr. Melissa Cronin(Cronin ,2014).
These sloths are are going extinct by hunting and deforestation or their habitat is being destructed. What people like you can do to help them is by taking sloths out of the wild that their habitat is being destroyed and out them in a sloth sanctuary. A sloth sanctuary is where we can keep the sloths alive and happy by not having their habitat destroyed or worrying about ground predators. Here at a sloth sanctuary they will focus on keep the sloths happy and healthy, sloths will be able to freely reproduce babies as well to make sure we can get their population growing.
To help save sloths you can make a donation to other sloth institutes or sanctuaries. Here are some listed down below.
